Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs - First Vinyl

Copy of the 25th birthday of.png

Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs' first vinyl release was promoted with a video tribute to a sport which no longer existed (ski ballet) by a man from a country that no longer existed (West Germany).

"Their video" is an edit of Hermann Reitberger's gold winning performance at the Calgary Olympics (1988) where ski ballet was included as a demonstration sport for the first time.

Never heard of ski ballet?  Maybe you didn't ski in the 80s like the people mentioned in this article about the history of this short lived sport on this website (which is no longer being updated). http://grantland.com/the-triangle/we-were-real-fing-athletes-the-rise-and-fall-of-ski-ballet-winter-olympics/

And catch Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs at the Dominion (yes, both still exist) on Wed Sept 13
